Which image formats and sizes does DecorAI accept?
Updated August 19, 2026
Short answer
DecorAI accepts standard photo formats including JPG, PNG, HEIC and WEBP — which covers essentially every photo an iPhone or Android phone takes. Aim for at least about 1024 pixels on the shortest side; ordinary phone photos are comfortably above that.
- Straight-from-the-camera phone photos are ideal
- Screenshots work but lose detail — use the original where possible
- Very large files simply take longer to upload; the wait is upload time, not AI time
- You can crop the photo inside DecorAI before generating
If an upload fails repeatedly on a mobile connection, try again on Wi-Fi or crop the photo first — a smaller file is often all it takes.

TroubleshootingMy photo will not upload. What should I do?Switch to Wi-Fi, crop or resize the photo, and confirm DecorAI has permission to access your photo library. Uploads that fail repeatedly are usually a weak mobile connection or a very large file rather than a problem with the image itself.Photos and uploadsWhat makes a good photo for AI interior design? The best photo for DecorAI is taken from a doorway or corner, holds the camera level at about chest height, shows the floor, the walls and part of the ceiling, and is evenly lit and in focus. A photo like that gives the AI enough structure to keep your room recognisable while it restyles it.
