How do colour schemes work in DecorAI?

Updated August 19, 2026

Short answer

A colour scheme sets the palette the AI works with — DecorAI offers more than 40, from neutral and earth tones to bold and monochrome. A colour scheme is optional and layers on top of the style, so the same Scandinavian style can be generated in warm beige or in deep green.

Colour schemes are the fastest way to test paint and textile directions before you buy anything. Generate the same room, the same style and the same controls three times with three different schemes, and the only variable is colour.

Getting a specific colour

  • Use the free-text field for an exact shade: "walls in a soft sage green, warm brass fittings"
  • Use a Moodboard when you want the exact colours of images you collected — the palette is measured from the real pixels, not guessed
  • Use Style Transfer to copy the palette of a single reference image such as a fabric or artwork
  • A Design Report (Pro) returns the named hex palette of a finished design, which you can take to a paint shop
