How do I design an open-plan space with AI?
Updated August 19, 2026
Short answer
Photograph the whole space from the corner that sees the most of it, use the DecorAI Interior Designer, and name every zone in the free-text field — for example "kitchen, dining and living in one room; keep the island; define the living zone with a rug". The Open Floor Plan control helps when you also want the layout rethought.
Keeping zones legible
- Rugs are the cheapest zoning device — ask for one per zone
- Lighting per zone: pendant over the table, lamps in the seating area
- A consistent palette across the whole space, with one accent per zone
- Open shelving or a sofa back as a soft divider
Generate the whole space once for the overall direction, then generate each zone close-up for the detail. The two together are far more convincing to a builder than either alone.
